  • Presentation Only Submission
    April 17, 2023

QNDE is the premiere international NDE meeting designed to provide an interface between research and early engineering through the presentation of current ideas and results focused on facilitating a rapid transfer to engineering development, bringing these technologies to the attention of researchers and users in national laboratories, industry and academia, including graduate students.

New Paper Publications Process for QNDE 2023:

Authors should note that they have a few choices for publishing their work presented at QNDE 2023. Publication is optional. All presentations made at the conference require an Abstract Submission.

As a helpful reference, QNDE accepts the following submission types:

  • A technical publication is a full-length, peer-reviewed paper that is accepted for presentation at a technical session and publication in the conference proceedings. Requires an abstract and draft paper upon submittal for consideration; if accepted, a final paper is required.
Length: No more than 10 pages (fully formatted, two-column, 8.5 x 11 in. pages)

  • A Technical Presentation is a Non-Publication Presentation of a full-length paper that is accepted and scheduled for presentation at a technical session; it is not published in the conference proceedings. Requires an abstract upon submittal for consideration.

  • Poster Presentation is a poster posted for public view at a poster session. The presentation may include diagrams, graphs, charts, photos, and a small amount of text to illustrate major points. It requires an abstract upon submittal for consideration. Draft paper and final paper is not required.

To be published in the conference proceedings, authors need to submit their full-length papers by April 17, 2023 (before the conference).

After the conference, the QNDE committee will identify the top one or two papers from their sessions and those authors will be invited to submit their full-length papers to the special issue of the ASME JNDE (Journal of Nondestructive Evaluation, Diagnostics and Prognostics of Engineering System). This special issue will be published in 2024 and the “Best Paper” of this special issue will be recognized.

After publishing the paper in the QNDE conference proceedings if the author is invited to submit their full-length paper for journal publication, then the author should make sure that the journal paper has at least 50% new material. If new results are generated after submitting the paper for conference proceedings publication, then the author should include those new results in the journal paper to make it a stronger paper.

Authors should keep in mind that the submitted papers for journal publication will go through full round of review before publication, hence an invitation does not automatically guarantee publication.  If the author only submits their paper for the journal publication and the reviewers do not recommend its publication, then it will not be published.  Therefore, if the publication of the presented work is important for an author or their organization, then they should submit at least a shorter version of the paper for conference proceedings publication, which will be published after a light review coordinated by the track organizers.

For journal paper publication please follow the ASME JNDE submission guidelines for submitting the journal paper and select the special issue QNDE 2023 when prompted during your submission.  The deadline for submitting papers for the special issue of the journal is October 1, 2023.

Looking forward to your participation at QNDE 2023!
